A Little Background

My husband's (J) hand surgeon recommended that he watch the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead when he was there last week for a follow up to surgery. Why a hand surgeon felt compelled to get involved in his weight loss, or lack thereof, is beyond me, but he took her advice and immediately bought a juicer. He has decided to follow in the footsteps of the star/producer/writer of the film and attempt a juice fast. He then convinced me that I should join him.

The results shown in the documentary are remarkable, with both men featured losing around 90 pounds in 2 months. And keeping it off. I'm looking at this as a sort of experiment in self control. If it works, and I lose a ton of weight, then that is super awesome and the angels will sing...or something. If not, well, extra fruits and veggies certainly never hurt anyone, and I will fail spectacularly on the Internet for all to see.

J says that I can post his experiences here too, and who knows, maybe I'll even convince him to be a guest blogger one of these days, for the masculine perspective.

I'm starting on Monday. (Originally it was Sunday, but I'm going to the fair with my dad, and there is no way that I'm passing up my one fried-cheese-on-a-stick per year.)
